So what’s the story with the old Mad Donna’s and Wylee’s Restaurants?

Mad Donna’s used to have the best brunch in town. We would walk to this amazing historic building when we lived in Five Points. This local’s HOT spot was always a gem in East Nashville’s Lockeland Springs neighborhood. A short walk past all of the stunning neighborhood Victorian homes and Bungalows, Mad Donna’s has one of the best sites in town. Between “captain crunch french toast”, their amazing Bloody Mary bar, and drag queen Bingo, Mad Donna’s was full of patrons around the clock. When the owner had to step away for some personal reasons, the bar continued, but it wasn’t the same without her.

As sales slowed, John Taffer and Sherryl Crow,  approached the owner to remodel the building for an upcoming pilot show. It was an enticing offer to get up to speed on some of the deferred maintenance on the building and a new operator to take over the day to day time needed to sustain a successful Restaurant. With a new Roof, new bar downstairs, full overhaul on design and theme, they transformed the space into a “Honky Tonk” styled bar similar to those on Broadway in Downtown Nashville, stage and all.

Unfortunately their team was more interested in the Publicity Stunt than continued operations at 1313 Woodland. Shortly (can we say just a couple of months!) after the remodel,  Wylee’s closed their doors for good and left “Mad Donna” holding a vacant space with a new identity and no ties to the old concept or community. Shortly after, she put the Building on the Market FOR SALE, and that is when our wonderful new Owners stepped up to the plate to get a new quality tenant to Lease the space.

The Right Tenant for 1313 Woodland

We are looking for a successful Neighborhood Bar and Restaurant concept for the space. The local favorites in 5 Points offer draft beers (2 for 1’s anyone?), lots of sports and entertainment, delicious food, and great times with friends and neighbors. We think right tenant for this space will too.

Brunch is Required if you want to maximize profits at this location and make friends with the locals historically speaking. Reworking the existing downstairs bar to seat more people would also help increase sales. (One of the remodel aspects we didn’t love was the shortened bar)

The existing stage and DJ booth upstairs could easily enable a concept that encourages live entertainment or events. The new owners prefer a non-smoking restaurant so that neighbors can really enjoy a family friendly space with good beer and casual atmosphere. Plus the oversized patio can serve the smokers and has always been perfect for all of our East Nashville pet lovers.
